My Trip to 'heaven on earth'
heaven on earth as it is truly said kashmir has an abundance of natural scenic beauty......this is visible from its wide stretches of mountain ranges and greenery that surrounds them..... i visited this place in the begining of december, this is the time when the cold is at its peak. i cannot describe the experience of walking on stone pathway and having teas at the intervels and watching gods creation at its best.... it was a scene which was worth of all the pain and harship which an individual takes to climb the hills of vaishno devi. it was ma first trip to this place but the beauty of it made me fall in love. the long walk to the mountain that is approx 16 kms takes you to place which is well know as the temple of vaishno devi. the godess who is the supreme power. having said that it bring out the bong in me. well bengalis have a place of respect for all the devis ... who are depicted as the source of power and life in hindu mithology.... well gettin to the topic.. the temple is situated at the top of hill. there is a strange custom followed in the temple, the devotees often take a bath in the river which flows adjecent to the temple. it is said that this ritual washes all the sins of an individual makin him pure which is descried as 'shuddha' in hindu mithology,,,, the water is bone chilling and is enough to freeze ur nervous system bt strangely it is the power of devotion which keeps the person intact.... moving on, there is a temple of bhairav nath located juss at the walk of around 5 kms above the vaishnodevi temple..... the trip was a very memorable one as it binds with it the joy of experiencing the nature at its best......
